The GECKO CL99 Advance Dual Play Cajon (also known as the Double Tapps Box Drum) is a professional-grade percussion instrument designed for live performances, studio recording, and acoustic jam sessions. What sets the CL99 apart from standard cajons is its Dual-Play design, allowing percussionists to use both the front and rear faces for distinctly different tonal textures. Design & Features Dual-Playing Surface (Double Tapps) Unlike conventional cajons that only utilize the front face, the CL99 features two independent tapping faces: The Main Face (Ash Wood): Delivers a crisp, bright slap with sharp, high-frequency response and a punchy, clean snap. The Secondary Face (Canadian Wood): Offers a warmer, deeper, and more organic woody tone, perfect for contrasting rhythmic patterns or softer acoustic sets. Adjustable Guitar String Snare System Inside the cajon, high-grade steel guitar strings run against the back of the faceplates. This adjustable setup allows you to easily customize the “buzz” or “sizzle” response. You can tighten them for a tight, modern, snare-like pop or loosen them for a more traditional, open, and deep Afro-Peruvian box sound. Build & Acoustic Resonance The entire outer shell/barrel is constructed from selected Birch wood, renowned in pro audio for its balanced tonal characteristics—offering punchy low-end bass frequencies and clear, cutting high-mids. The bottom of the body is equipped with thick rubber feet to decouple the instrument from the floor, preventing bass frequencies from getting muddy and protecting the wood from scuffs. Full Commercial Package The GECKO CL99 comes standard as a complete gig-ready kit, typically including: Heavy-Duty Gig Bag: Water-resistant 600D nylon carry bag with backpack straps and comfortable handles. Sitting Cushion Pad: A high-density foam top pad to prevent slipping and ensure comfort during long playing sessions. Tuning Key: Allen key included for on-the-fly snare tension adjustments. Dimensions Most sources list the CL99 at approximately: Height: 500 mm (19.7″) Width: 310 mm (12.2″) Depth: 300 mm (11.8″) Category: Drums & Percussion
